Scope and Contents This volume has pages from various notebooks of hand drawn studies of invertebrates in pencil and ink. Most of the drawings are labeled (usually the latin name) and there are occasional longer paragraphs of observations and notes. Many of these drawings and studies of mollusks and invertebrates appeared in publications by the Boston Society of Natural History between the 1850s and the 1870s. Scope and Contents

This bound volume first includes a copy of the Boston Society of Natural History publication "Observations on the Terrestrial Pulmonifera of Maine" from the Journal of the Portland Society of Natural History by Edward S. Morse. Tucked into the pages of the publication are loose handwritten notes. Following the printed Observations are illustrations and notes about various species in the Mollusca family. At the end of the volume are a few letters, both loose and pasted in, to Morse.

Content Description This volume contains illustrations from volumes 1 through 3 of "The Terrestrial Air-Breathing Mollusks of the United States" cut out and pasted onto the volume's pages. The illustrations are arranged in the order of publication with hand written labels for each plate and the volume they came from written in the upper right hand corner of each page.
