Drawings of North American Mollusks, bulk: 1857 - 1873, 1857 - 1962
Scope and Contents
This volume has pages from various notebooks of hand drawn studies of invertebrates in pencil and ink. Most of the drawings are labeled (usually the latin name) and there are occasional longer paragraphs of observations and notes. Many of these drawings and studies of mollusks and invertebrates appeared in publications by the Boston Society of Natural History between the 1850s and the 1870s. This volume also includes a note from the donor, Edward S. Morse's granddaughter and artist Catharine Robb Whyte, with instructions about the gift tucked inside the front cover.
