Content Description These notebooks are largely about birdwatching in New England and include what birds were seen, when they were seen, and where they were seen. There are large sections that have more observations of behavior and habits. There are also pages with quotes inscribed by the author in the book, appointment notes, and other thoughts. Scope and Contents This volume first contains the publication On the Tarsus and Carpus of Birds, by Edward S. Morse and published from the Annals of the Lyceum Natural History in New York. Following that are numerous drawings of the bones of various birds and other animals pasted into the pages, and some illustrated book plates.
