Biographical / Historical

The exhibition offers a jouney back over 3,00 years to Ramesses II time to examine evidence and artifacts of Egyptian accomplishments, and methods and analyses that led archeologists to their discoveries.

Ramesses II (later known as Ramesses the Great) was Pharaoh during Egypt's golden age. Born to King Sety I and Queen Tuya around 1300 B.C. which was a time of high prosperity for Egypt's New Kingdom. Ramesses II took control in his mid-twenties and his reign would become the second longest in Egypt's history. Under his rule, the landscape changed drastically, as huge statues and monuments were erected throughout the kingdom. Ramesses II died in his eighties around 1213 B.C., and he was entombed in the Valley of the Kings. Ramesses II, is known as the most significant ruler of Egypt's Golden Age.
