This collection features a typewritten manuscript of "The Feeding and Related Behavior of Hummingbirds" and includes pencil and pen edits. It is written in a memoir format, discussing Bene's observations and research of hummingbirds. Biographical Note
Frank Bené was born June 11, 1905 in Hungary and moved with his family to Pennsylvania in 1906. Bené pursued a career in adult citizenship education until he moved to Arizona for health reasons, where he began his ornithological studies. This manuscript received a Walker Prize from the Boston Society of Natural History in 1942. Bené passed away in 1943 from tuberculosis.
