The Stars Differ, Approx. 1940 - 1950
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of one manuscript entitled "The Stars Differ", containing an overview of numerous Central American countries including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama, along with descriptions of the history, flora, and fauna of the regions. The manuscript is undated and has no author listed, but the first page indicates that it was proofread by Dr. Wilson Popenoe, Arthur A. Pollan, and Dr. Archie F. Carr. As these three contributors were active in the field of natural history of the region, the manuscript was possibly authored by a colleague of theirs. Carr studied under the Boston Society of Natural History member Thomas Barbour prior to his time in Central America, which is a possible connection to how this manuscript came the Boston Society of Natural History. This manuscript does not appear to have been formally published, so it is possible this is one of the only copies.
