The Thomas Barbour Collection consists of almost 50 years of photographs showcasing his travels and the species studied. The photographs include: animals, people, nature, and architecture. Also included is his Harvard Doctorate Diploma, Certificates from various organizations, and a letter from Dartmouth Univeristy.

Biographical / Historical
Thomas Barbour born August 19, 1844 was an American herpetologist. Barbour attended Harvard University where he obtained in B.A., M.A., and Ph.D., and in 1911 joined the faculty as the curator of reptiles and amphibians at the Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ). He was the first president of the Dexter School in 1926. From 1927-1946 he was director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology. His scientific travels took him through Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Central America, among other regions. Barbour was elected to the United States National Academy of Sciences in 1933 and the American Philosophical Society in 1937. Thomas Barbour died on January 8, 1946.
